Rene brings over 30 years of HR experience that she has gained across various industries and countries in Africa.

 

Her expertise in HR was built over many years in the corporate environment and for the past 6 years she has  designed and delivered solutions for Mercer clients.

 

These solutions span across the HR function and its sub-functions and continuously aligned with Mercer thought leadership and insights into the new world of work.  

 

She holds a Hons degree in Social Work and Psychology, a Commercial degree in Labour Law and Industrial Psychology.

Experience

Pan-African Financial Services Company

  • Managed the delivery of a organisation design project spanning over 36 countries. This included engaging Group Executives about their functions to ensure understanding of the jobs across the different tiers in the Group Company and the respective countries.

Global Hi-Tech Company

  • Designed a job grading framework using the Mercer IPE methodology. Conducted market benchmarking to determine level of competitiveness in the markets where they operate. Finished off the project with a new reward structure design.

Telecommunication Company

  • Led the project team to design and deliver a performance management system and developed an incentive scheme to reward employee performance.  

Oil & Gas Company

  • Implemented a customised job grading framework and reward philosophy to align to the practices of the new owner. This included executive reward design, incentive scheme plans and policy development for presentation to the Remuneration Committee and Boar of Directors for adoption.

NPO of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

  • Led the implementation of a job grading & reward benchmarking project to ensure alignment to the Group Company practices, not ignoring localisation of results to meet regulatory requirements.

Other pursuits

Merger and Acquisitions

  • Working closely with the Mercer Client Relationship office, represent the Mercer SA office where global clients embark on a project to incorporate new acquisitions of split of existing divisions. This includes engagement with the HR offices in African countries where the client may operate to analyse data and craft the ideal state.

Mercer Forums

  • Present thought leadership in Reward practices and Compensation trends to Mercer forums to facilitate discussions amongst forum members and track the developments/needs of the specific industry.
